Elusive Butterflies



we control our words with such restraint
and grace
equal to none but the sparrow
that flies with a strand of hair in its mouth
and weaves it so gently and
beautifully into the tapestry
that will cradle its children

I am looking for the elusive butterfly
that will teach me how to paint my wings
so that I can fly and hide
at the same time
